The Beginning Of The End.

So I'm living in New York City for the summer doing two internships in the Music Industry, one at Ariel Publicity and one at Island/DefJam for the A&R guy of Thursday. And I've realized that the industry loves their blogs. I have a livejournal but that's more personal for me so I decided to start a Blog here.

DISCLAIMER: This blog is solely for me to rant and rave about the happenings in the Music Industry and in my life in NYC. If you read this and you don't like my opinion, GET OVER IT. I don't really care what you think, this is what I think and if you don't like it I have an easy answer, DON"T READ IT.

I've been to a few shows since I've been here, unfortunately not enough.

1. I saw Teddy Geiger play at the South Street Seaport of Target Kids Day. I know I know you're prolly thinking what the fuck!? But I mean come on that kid has got more talent in his left pinky than a lot of the artists and bands coming out today (oh don't worry I'll get to that later). Plus gotta represent Rochester. The show was good performance wise. The crowd was lame though. Most people were just there cause they had been there all day and wanted to see the fireworks after (which were sweet) so they had no clue who the hell they were watching and so it was a weird vibe. But of course Teddy and the guys played an amazing show, as always. No encore though, LAME.

2. Ryan Montbleau at the Knitting Factory. Always a good time. Most insanely talented man with the more insanely talented band. I felt like the youngest one there, in fact I'm pretty sure that my friend Brian and I were the youngest ones there. Everyone else was at least 25. But hey it's cool, we know good music. Anyways I fall in love with Ryan every time I see him, insaneness. <3

3. The Lookaways at CBGB's. I finally got to go to CBGB's, it's about damn time I know. The Lookaways are a friend of a friend's band. Pretty cool, girl lead. Reminiscent of 80's girly punk pretty cool. I enjoyed it. However it was BALLS (=hot) and my lovely friends wore heals cause for some reason that was thought to be a smart idea for the night, wrong-o. And since I'm not 21 and I don't have a proper fake, I couldn't go hang out after, LAME.

I turn 20 in a week incase you cared.

So I think everytime I post I'm going to have one blurb about a band I really LOVE and one about a band I really HATE.

LOVE: The Morning Of. http://www.myspace.com/themorningofrock A band outta Newburgh, NY (Orange County). Pretty fucking sic. They rock hard and have the best stage presence ever. There is a guy lead singer but a girl who backs up and sings lead occationally. The band consists of keyboard, 2 guitars, bass, drums and a singer. The girl plays keyboard and sings. Their songs are catchy and dance-y and I can never get enough of them. I'm going to see them tomorrow night at 7pm at the Knitting Factory, and again on July 10th at CBGB's. STOKED.

HATE: Cute Is What We Aim For. Recently started this bad boy: http://groups.myspace.com/cuteiswhatweareagainst Most overrated band ever. The guys are two faced assholes who only suck up to people because they like the attention and the money. I liked Jeff and Shaant better when they were in Cherrybing, more fun and relaxed. The Buffalo scene gets pretty shady as with every music scene I'm sure. And I've realised that some people jsut want your money but want you to think it's your friendship they want. Ever since Cute came out in 2004 and played Bamboozle I have been bitter, I wouldn't watch them then I won't watch them now. I was forced to watch them open for The Rocket Summer in Dec. 2005 in Rochester and I really wished I had been late cause it was torture. This year at Bamboozle I walked past the stage they were on and it was OVER FLOWING with teens and preteens googling over the "hotties"(ew) and their whiny songs. REfuckingDICULOUS. I don't understand Fueled By Ramen, sooo many good bands...they really dissapointed me with this one. The only reason Cute is getting a lot of attention is cause FOB was on FBR and every FOB fan watches that shit like a hawk for the next band to come out. If only the little girls knew that Shaant really just wants your money. Jag Bags.
